Hashtags aren’t the be-all-end-all but they are beneficial if you are trying to have your content discovered by news viewers. Hashtags won’t save a lousy post, an account not participating in community engagement, or uninteresting content. They are meant to get more eyes to that content.
HERE IS WHAT HASHTAGS CAN DO AND WHY THEY ARE HELPFUL!
They make your content more discoverable - Check your INSIGHTS and see how many people viewed your content through hashtags
You can use 30 hashtags IF you have 30 relevant ones to use - Recently Instagram said you don’t have to use 30 just for the sake of it. It’s better to have quality hashtags over quantity!
Make sure your hashtags are relevant to your business AND the post you are using them for - You don’t want to confuse the algorithm by using irrelevant hashtags. This won’t help you grow.
Niche DOWN when it comes to Hashtags - With 1 billion people on Instagram these days, you won’t be able to compete with very popular hashtags. If you have a Bakery, don’t add #bakery to your posts. Try #VeganBakery or #BakeryCollingwood
A FEW TIME-SAVING TIPS!
Research hashtags every couple of months and create a list somewhere you can access easily - like google sheets, docs, or even the Notes app on your phone
Create multiple sets of hashtags to be used with various posts. You want that app on your phone as well so that when you are adding hashtags to REELS, you can simply copy and paste. Nobody has time to type out hashtags on their phone!
Check out your competitors' hashtags too!
Try following a few hashtags that are relevant to your industry
